Sundia launches “Melon Mania,” an online video contest to celebrate America’s favorite summer fruit

OAKLAND, Calif. – July 14, 2008 – Sundia Corporation, the nation’s fastest growing produce brand, is on the hunt for the best watermelon video. The company is inviting watermelon lovers to submit their “Melon Mania!” video by September 4 for a chance to win $5,000.

Sundia is encouraging consumers to create videos that celebrate watermelon or tell Americans why they should “melon up.” Through midnight, Sept. 4, consumers can enter the “Melon Mania! Celebrating Sundia Watermelons” contest by uploading a video to YouTube.com, then entering the contest by submitting the link at sundiafruit.com.

The winner will be selected and announced by Sept. 15, based on originality, creativity, general appeal, and how well the video succeeds in motivating people to eat more Sundia melons. In the event of a tie among the finalists, the winner will be the video that has the highest number of views on YouTube.

“Watermelon makes headlines throughout the summer, but though the U.S. per capita consumption is over 15 pounds a year, most Americans are unaware of what makes it such a great and healthy fruit. This contest can go a long way towards increasing that awareness,” said Dan Hoskins, chief operating officer of Sundia Corporation.

The contest is being featured on Sundia’s newly designed website.
